For the third year running Mawdesley Cricket Club will be hosting a Classic Car and Motorbike Show and Sale on its playing fields at School Lane, Mawdesley (Post Code L40 3TG), on Bank Holiday Monday 28th May 2018. This year, an additional feature will enable those in the market to buy a Classic Car or Motorcycle the chance of looking at the cars/bikes put up for sale on the day by their owners. The event is again being sponsored by Armitstead Barnett Financial Services with Lancaster Insurance providing the main trophy for the best in show as voted for by the public attending.

Classic cars from of all ages will be invited to take part, from veteran and vintage up to and including modern marvels, replicas, supercars, and kit cars. So if you have something of interest to show why not come along for what will be a great day for all motoring enthusiasts?

The Car Show itself will start at 12noon. There will be five categories this year – Pre 1950, 50’s and 60’s, 70 and 80’s, 1990’s and later, plus a category for ‘Active Classics’ which can include any classic car that is used on a regular basis and not just kept in the garage and polished up for shows!
There will also be a separate category for Motorcycles and Scooters. Judging will take place from 12.30pm onwards and winners in the various categories will be announced from 3.00pm with class winners being invited to park up at the front of the show marquee for the public attending to vote on to determine which car/motorcycle is the people’s choice ‘Best in Show’. The show will close at about 4.30pm.

To keep all those attending amused and engaged during the afternoon it is planned to have a variety of activities on site together with a number of stalls being run by local community groups selling jumble and bric-a-brac to raise funds for their own organisations. Any individuals or local Car Clubs wishing to display and / or sell auto jumble etc., would be very welcome and can secure a pitch by contacting the Cricket Club on the number given below; a small charge of £5 will apply per stall.

There will be plenty of refreshments available during the day from a stall selling cakes and sandwiches, a cafe selling biscuits, sweets etc., as well as tea and coffee, and a beer and wine bar for the extra thirsty. There will also be a BBQ running.
