This year due to concerns about closing major roads without the support of the police, the Walking Day committee decided to suspend the ‘Walk of Witness’ around the village.
Our day began with a short service in Church supported by the Chorley Silver Band who provided the music for our hymns, the Congregational Churches Sunday School also sang to us which everyone really enjoyed.
After the service we processed along the footpath to the Congregational Church for an afternoon of entertainment.
The festivities were opened with Pastor Les and Stan trying out the bouncy castle
.The bean bag game proved very popular, though there was lots more to to occupy everyone.
Paster Les ensured fair play when the men & women challenged each other to a tug of war, it took 3 challenges to find the winning team, but really everyone was a winner because we all had a good laugh.
Everyone worked really hard to put on a lovely selection of food and John proved to be an expert with the BBQ
Reverend Michael had been delayed as our Confirmation Candidates were Confirmed on the same day, but he wasn’t going to miss out on the opportunity to also test out the bouncy castle & Paster Les couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have another go.
The day ended with a short service of hymns with music again provided by members the Chorley Silver Band.
Everyone had a really great day and are already talking about next year.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who worked so hard to make the day such a success, without all their hard work it wouldn’t have been the great success it was.
Not forgetting the members of Chorley Silver Band who provided the music throughout the day, their support was greatly appreciated as they had been playing at another event the night before.
If you didn’t make this years Walking Day make sure you don’t miss out next year as even bigger plans are afoot for events on the day and I’m sure the lady’s and John will be busy providing plenty of lovely food to eat.
