On the 14th August we celebrated the long and dedicated Reader Ministry of Bill who was licensed in 1952 in Carlisle Diocese.
Bill remained an active member of the Reader ministry team in our United Benefice until 2014 which we are sure must make him one of the longest serving Readers in the country.
The service at St Peter’s, Mawdesly was well attended by family and friends.
Reverend Janet read a letter from Bishop Julian congratulating Bill and thanking him for his long and dedicated service.
While the service was a celebration of Bill’s ministry, Reverend Janet also recognised the important roll Bill’s wife Nora played throughout his ministry, she not only supported Bill she also offered a welcoming and supportive ministry to everyone she met.
The celebration continued after the service as we shared many happy memories and a buffet provided by members of the congregation.
