Following the recent announcement of the £35,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery fund to support our restoration work, we have now started on the Development phase which will involve further investigative work on the roof over the North aisle (similar to what we did last year on the South aisle) as well as the detailed planning work that will enable us to access the full grant of £235,000 to complete the restoration work, hopefully some time in 2016.
As before, there is some temporary closure of part of the church with scaffolding and sheeting for the investigative work which should last 4 – 6 weeks. Please take care as you move around the church during this period and we apologise for any temporary disruption to our normal arrangements that this work may cause.
Whilst it is great news that we have got the Lottery Grant, it will not cover the full cost of the work and we will have to raise funds ourselves. If you feel that you would like to make a donation or get involved in some fund raising activities, please speak to Bill Dawson or Andrew Marston.
