Mawdesley Cricket Club
2019 Classic Car and Motorcycle Show
Monday 27th May, 2019
Come and join us at the Vintage Car Rally on the Cricket Ground where we will have a stall with crafts & a tombola to raise funds for St Peters Church.
For the fourth year running Mawdesley Cricket Club will be hosting a Classic Car and Motorbike Show on its playing fields at School Lane, Mawdesley (L40 3TG), on Bank Holiday Monday 27th May 2019. The event is again being sponsored by Armitstead Barnett Financial Services with Lancaster Insurance providing the main trophy for the best in show as voted for by the public attending.
Classic cars of all ages will be invited to take part, from veteran and vintage up to and including modern marvels, replicas, supercars, and kit cars. So, if you have something of interest to show why not come along for what will be a great day out for all motoring enthusiasts?
The event will start in the morning with a twenty mile ‘Run’ through the local countryside around Mawdesley and surrounding villages. All cars entering the run will receive a commemorative Rally Plaque to attach to their cars. Vehicles taking part in the ‘Run’ will be asked to register with the officials at the ground on School Lane anytime from 9.00am to 10.00am to receive their directions so as to complete the ‘Run’, which will take about 60 minutes, and be back before the show proper opens at 11.00am. Reserved parking slots will be set aside for all cars going on the ‘Run’ to ensure that they have a front row place to park up when they return!
This year there will be five car categories – Pre 1950, 50’s & 60’s, 70’s & 80’s, 1990’s and later. There will also be a separate category for Motorcycles and Scooters. Judging will take place from 12 noon onwards and winners in the various categories will be announced from 2.00pm with class winners being invited to park up at the front of the show marquee for the public attending to vote on to determine which car/motorcycle is the peoples’ choice ‘Best in Show’. There will also be a trophy this year for the judges’ ‘Best in Show’ award. The results will be announced at about 3.00pm. The show will close at 4.00pm.
To keep all those attending amused the organisers of the event have planned to have a variety of activities on site together with a number of stalls being run by local community groups selling jumble and bric-a-brac to raise funds for their own organisations.
Activities being planned for the 2019 show include a model aircraft flying display by the Mereside Model Club, a children’s model car race track, an antique fun fair plus a Formula 1 simulator. There will be plenty of refreshments available during the day including a stall selling cakes and sandwiches, a cafe selling biscuits, sweets etc., as well as tea and coffee, and a beer and wine bar for the extra thirsty. There will also be a BBQ running.
