We would like to give a massive THANK YOU to Janet,Jill, Rhianan, Molly & Jess who travelled all the way from Christ Church, Thornton not just once but twice.
Firstly on the Saturday to set up the puppet theatre in church & to present a workshop with the children so they could choose a puppet to use during the Sunday service when they joined the leaders as their puppets sang one of the songs during the service & showed them how to make a sock puppet to take home with them.
As you can see from the photo’s everyone, including Reverend Janet enjoyed the workshop and the children showed real initiative as they designed their sock puppet.
Today (11th October) the puppets took over the service instead of a sermon and sang the story of the ‘lost sheep’.
It was lovely to see children sitting in the aisles so they could get a good view of the puppets and when it came to the congregation joining in with words & actions everyone joined in, old & young, showing that when it comes to praising God we are truly united.
There was lots of positive feedback after the service & there seems to be a genuine interest in setting up our own puppet theatre which could be used as we out reach into our communities and schools not just in church where they would only be occasional visitors. The wonderful thing about the puppets is that there is no age constraints when it comes to being involved and everyone involved can have fun.
If you would be interested in being involved please speak to Reverend Janet.
